The location for Optical Document Security - the 2010 Conference on Optical Security and Counterfeit Deterrence is San Francisco, renowned for its chilly summer fog, steep rolling hills, an eclectic mix of Victorian and modern architecture, and its peninsular location surrounded on three sides by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. The conference venue is the 552-room Palace Hotel, built in 1875 and rebuilt after the devastating 1906 earthquake, to re-open in 1909. In 1989 the hotel was closed for a complete renovation to re-open in 1991. The Palace Hotel is just 30 minutes from San Francisco International Airport. The Hotel is centrally located in the heart of the city, just steps away from Union Square, Chinatown, the Financial District and the Moscone Convention Center.
